Privacy Notice
Effective draft: 16 October 2026
This notice describes how Lengobe (the operator identified below) processes personal information in connection with ride requests, driver onboarding and platform administration in South Africa. It should be read alongside the Terms of Service and the cookie/analytics choices displayed in the app.
1. Information we collect
- Riders: account name, email, phone number, sign-in credentials or verified Google sign-in ID, ride pickup and destination, booking/ride timestamps, support reports and transaction reference/status.
- Drivers: the above and vehicle identifiers, four vehicle-condition photographs, driver's licence, professional driving permit, proof of residence, operating licence, roadworthy evidence, vehicle registration evidence, commercial/passenger insurance, verification status and live location while online or serving a journey.
- Service information: approximate device location (with permission), route history, trip status, safety reports, security logs and essential session cookies.
- Optional Google Analytics 4 usage statistics only if you grant analytics consent. You can refuse this without losing ordinary ride functions.
2. Why we use it
To set up accounts, verify and approve drivers, calculate routes and fares, dispatch rides, detect fraud, support users, respond to emergencies or disputes, record payments and payouts, comply with law and protect the service. We limit collection to what is reasonably needed for those purposes.
3. Payments, sharing and transfers
Paystack processes card payment authorizations and transfers. Lengobe stores payment references, status and settlement amounts; it should not store raw card numbers or CVVs. Mapbox processes mapping and geocoding requests. Google processes sign-in and, with your consent, GA4 usage analytics. Hosting, communication providers, verified drivers and safety responders may receive necessary data, with access controlled by role. Provider processing may involve access or storage outside South Africa; appropriate cross-border protections must be verified before launch.
4. Driver and vehicle evidence
Driver documents and vehicle photos are collected for approval and safety review, not for public browsing. Internal review does not guarantee future vehicle condition or replace the driver’s legal obligations. Access is restricted to the driver and authorised platform staff.
5. Retention and safeguarding
Keep data only for the time required for delivery, dispute resolution and applicable legal, accounting or regulatory obligations, using a documented retention schedule. Apply role-based access, secure transport, private document storage, backups, access logs and incident response. The operator must define precise retention and deletion periods before launch.
6. Your rights
Subject to law, you may request access to personal information, ask for corrections, object to processing where permitted, request deletion where allowed, withdraw optional analytics consent and raise a complaint. Contact the operator via the address below. You can also contact the South African Information Regulator.
7. Children and changes
Lengobe is intended for adults creating independent accounts. The operator must establish a process for suspected minor users and publish updates when its processing practices change.
